Smart re-lock ideas for my new storage building

I'm building my own access system for a new climate-controlled storage building, where I keep my Sea Ray 370 with twin D-Tronic MerCruiser diesels. I've set up a keypad so customers can enter a code to unlock the door. Now here's the challenge: I'm not sure how to handle re-locking once someone's inside. The gate's not installed yet, so I can't rely on them exiting to trigger a re-lock. I thought about using a short timer, like 10 or 15 seconds, but that could be frustrating if someone is unloading and needs to go in and out multiple times.

I also considered using my motion-activated lights. When no motion is detected and the lights go off, I could have the door re-lock automatically. Another idea is requiring the customer to punch in their code again to lock the door when they leave, but realistically, most people probably won't bother. I'm open to suggestions, just trying to find a balance between convenience and security while I fine-tune this setup.

You could tie the lock to a longer motion sensor delay, maybe 5 to 10 minutes of no movement before it auto-locks. You know how annoying it is when your iPhone suddenly closes when it's idle for just a minute lol.

I had a similar setup for my RV storage, I tied the re-lock to a combo of motion sensors and a longer inactivity timer about 3–5 minutes. That way, folks aren't rushed but it still auto-locks
