Trying to fit a whole 2-bedroom apartment in a 5x10

I don't usually rant but this is getting on my nerves. So my sister called me up asking for help moving her stuff into a storage unit she rented. She swore the 5x10 would be enough because "the guy on the phone said it was fine." So she showed up with a sectional couch, queen bed, desk, dining set, and like 25 boxes. No way in hell it fit. In the end we had to rent a second 10x10 on the spot. How are places still telling people this size works for more than a studio? My goodness!

That's classic, storage places often lowball sizes to make the sale. A 5x10 is barely a walk-in closet...not nearly enough for that much stuff, so yeah it needs way more space

Yeah, a 5x10 is nowhere near enough for that kind of haul. It's great for a few boxes and maybe a small dresser but a sectional and a queen bed? No chance. Storage companies tend to push smaller units to make rentals look cheaper, banking on people underestimating their space needs. Did she end up keeping both units or did you play Tetris and manage to squeeze things in? If she's stuck with two, it might be worth seeing if a single larger unit would be a better deal.

Oh man, I've been there, I helped a friend once who swore a 5x10 could fit her entire one-bedroom. We played Tetris for two hours before giving up and grabbing a 10x10 too, it was a total headache.
